In June and again in August paramedics of the Prospect Heights Fire Protection District were dispatched to calls where young children were found in cardiac arrest. In both cases, the child was not breathing and did not have a heartbeat and CPR was required. In both cases paramedics performed CPR and used advanced life-saving skills to achieve resuscitation. Paramedics were then able to transport these children, alive once again, to the hospital where they received further care. Both remain alive today because of the efforts of our paramedics. Their calm, cool, and collected demeanor along with their professional commitment to the citizens we serve, continued training and education, and constant preparation is why such results are achievable.
