Lars Anderson - Trustee, Serving since 2023

James A. Cagney, Past president.

Served from 1996 until 2015

Thank you for your dedicated professional service to the Fire District.

Born and raised in Oak Park, Trustee Cagney completed his undergraduate and graduate courses of study at Chicago’s Loyola University, majoring in American History. He is married to a Mundelein College graduate and they have 5 children.

Most of Trustee Cagney’s professional career was spent working for a major publisher’s textbook division. During his tenure he held a variety of positions in the sales, editorial and administrative departments. When he retired he was the Senior Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer. Shortly after retiring, the Department of Commerce appointed him as its interim District Director for the United States Census Bureau. He has also served as Ward 2 alderman on the Prospect Heights City Council.

Since being first sworn in as a trustee of the Prospect Heights Fire Protection District in 1996, Trustee Cagney has served as its treasurer, secretary and, during the last decade, as its president. He has witnessed many changes as the District expanded its borders, hired full-time firefighters and purchased new state-of-the-art equipment. He is very proud to be associated with such loyal and dedicated members of the fire protection service.

Jon Tammen - Past president.

Served from 2001 until 2023

Thank you for your dedicated professional service to the Fire District.

Trustee Jon Tammen died suddenly on the morning of June 26, 2023 shortly after 7:30. In the months preceeding his death, Jon had experienced some health challenges.

Jon joined the Prospect Heights Fire Protection District as a firefighter in 1989 and served until 2000. In 2001 he became a member of the Board of Trustees and served in that role for the past 23 years. In 2014 Jon was elected as the president of the Board of Trustees.

Prior to joining the PHFD, Jon has served with the Rosemont Department of Public Safety as a reserve officer.

During his time with us as a firefighter and trustee. Jon brought unique knowledge and perspective to the management of the PHFPD. His knowledge of radio and communications networks greatly benefited the residents both operationally and financially. Jon was active inthe community as a member of Saint Alphonsus parish and the City of Prospect Heights Zoning Board of Appeals.

We are thankful for Jon’s 34 years of service to the residents of the Prospect Heights Fire.

Meetings are held on the Third Tuesday of the Month at 8AM, meetings held at the main fire station unless otherwise posted.
