Here's something from the Illinois Department of Transportation. Please, wear your seatbelt and let's not meet by accident.

May 11-25, 2015

Don’t become a Back Seat Bullet

As of January 1, 2012, seat belt use is required in all seating positions. It doesn’t matter if you are in the front seat or back seat- Click It or Ticket.

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) wants to remind you that law enforcement will be out in force day and night—if you are not wearing your seat belt, in the front and back seat, the fine is $25 plus additional court costs. If you are stopped for drunk driving, you will be arrested!

Don’t become a back seat bullet! If a person is not wearing their seat belt in a 30 mph crash- it is like falling from a 3-story building or getting run over by a 3.5 ton elephant. If this happens to a passenger in the back seat, there is a good chance they will hit the driver/front seat passenger causing injuries even if the front seat driver/passenger is wearing a seat belt.

To understand what a back seat bullet is- check out the following videos:

· Back Seat Bullet- Ireland https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6Qhmdk4VNs

· Julie knew her killer- UK https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKHY69AFstE

· Elephant in the Back Seat- UK https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JEtDbnnPnj8

The seat belt usage rate for front seat drivers/passengers is 94.1 in Illinois, but for back seat passengers it is 84.0%.

The best defense against a drunk driver is a seat belt. Buckle up, every trip, every time, every vehicle, every position.

If you drink, designate a sober driver.
