The opening event of Open House was the swearing in by Fire Chief Drew Smith of 2 new part-time members, Jay Huh and Mike Newkirk, Jay is a former Marine and a member of the Buffalo Grove Fire Department. Mike is a member of the Wisconsin National Guard and is employed by the Schaumburg Fire Department. Chief Smith then swore-in Scott Olsen to the rank of Battalion Chief. B/C Olsen was a lieutenant and long time member of the Fire District. He previously served with the Buffalo Grove Fire Department for nearly 30 years. The Fire District salutes all 3 members and wishes them the best of success in the coming years.
