In August Prospect Heights and Wheeling firefighters trained together on the use of foam. Such training is infrequent due to the logistics involved. Using equipment from both departments the firefighters were able to apply their skills to produce the foam by mixing concentrate with tank water and then using hose lines and vehicle nozzles to apply foam blanket to a simulated spill and fire. The PHFD and WFD make regular joint training a priority so the two communities can assist each other with larger emergencies.
